as U2 they haven't made any changes as far as I know. But before calling themselves U2 they were The Hype and Edge's older brother was in the band as a second guitarist.

OK Steve Berlin (sax and keyboard) joined this 70's formed L A band in the early 80's but no one has ever left the band.

I would definitely consider Pete Best and Stu Sutcliffe as having been members of the Beatles. Initially their Liverpool fans were not happy about Best leaving and Ringo Starr joining, until Ringo proved to be a capable drummer. And it was Sutcliffe who was the first to wear the traditional "Beatles" haircut.
