I know that none of you know me. All I ever do is lurk here but I have been here since 2005 and I know that there are a lot of good people here who will send some love to my kitty.
Mama Cat is a sweet, loving cat. She always comes to me and always appreciates the food I give her. Today she wouldn't get up off her bed and, even though it was tuna day, she wouldn't get up to eat. When I tried to pick her up she made aggressive sounds and gave me a little warning bite. Something is wrong.
I tried to get my vet to see her but I don't have the money today and told the vet that I get paid this Thursday and asked her to take a postdated check. I have always paid my vet bills when services were rendered and have donated (not a lot but what I could spare) to this vet to help them with the unwanted animals they take in. She refused to see Mama Cat without payment today. I really lost my cool and told her to go fuck herself. I am so disappointed and depressed.
Mama Cat is at least up and walking around some now. I know that people believe I worry too much about my cats but I am anxious around people and my cats are my best friends. I'll take her to another vet on Thursday. In the meantime, please send some good wishes, prayers or just good vibes to Mama Cat. I need to believe that someone besides me cares about her.

(8,331 posts)MinMin, are sending good wishes and vibes to you and Mama Cat. I think what your vet did is despicable. Glad you are able to see another one.
MinMin has now and again gone off his food and water for a day. I worry like crazy. Next day, all better. So I understand. Praying for good health for you both.

I hope you can find another Vet. I don't think this one should expect Customer Loyalty from you.

I don't understand vets refusing to see patients who normally pay as they go and one time cannot. I'm so sorry yours is such a jerk. An acquaintance of mine went through that a couple years ago with a local equine vet. He actually *worked* for the vet, getting up in the middle of the night to plow out her very, very long driveway to make sure she could get out for emergencies. He owed her nothing and always paid as he went. And yet when he had an serious illness run through his barn, she refused to come out because he couldn't pay on the spot. The snow we had that winter alone would have paid any bills incurred, but she refused. She's lost a lot of business as a result of what happened in that situation. It may take some time, but their karma does eventually catch up with them.
In the mean time, good wishes also finding a better vet. It sucks to have to go through this when they are not feeling well. It's harder for the new vet, who doesn't have a history on them, and so harder for everybody. Hopefully Mama Cat will bounce back and be fine by tomorrow, so you can have some time to find a better vet.

(14,691 posts)pay no attention to those who think you worry too much about your cats. IMO they don't understand and probably never will. That's their problem.
