(95,337 posts)The only people who know about Rachel and her connection to Frank Underwood are Lucas, Gavin, Janine and Tom Hammerschmidt.
Tom only knows it thru hearsay from Lucas and Janine and really is on the fence as to what he believes. Janine is scared out of her mind and on the run - no clue where she is. Lucas is in jail and I'm sure Frank will make sure that no one knows where he is in the system or has communications with him. Technically Lucas is a cyber terrorist even though it wasn't really his intentions. Gavin is now connecting the dots but he's so loopy who knows what he'll do. He's been such a big part of the underbelly of the internet that going mainstream isn't really his thing. Plus nobody threatens Cashew!!!
So in the end the only person that really has any power against Underwood that can actually do something about it is Gaven Orsay. Great casting for that part - I always remember that guy as one of the McPoyle brothers from 'It's always sunny in Philadelphia' - the kid does good creepy. And now with Douglas Stamper possibly dead (I'm going to assume he is dead but never say never) - this storyline is amped for season #3.
I love this show but I think they have 3 seasons, maybe 4 tops before it will start to suck. I love "True Blood" but let's face it - after season #4 it started to tank pretty quickly. I hope the people at Netflix recognize that and know when to pull the plug before it goes sour.

(28,946 posts)I think he's going to show Frank and Claire a thing or two when it comes to the art of the dirty deal.

(95,337 posts)And although in the end Grayson decided to go with power over money, you just never really know which way the wind will blow with this kid. My guess is that he recognized that Frank had the winning hand in this round of poker but will easily be swayed should someone else get the upperhand over the Underwoods.
And what's really great for season #3 is that the Underwoods will have no choice but to rely on Grayson even more now that it looks like Doug Stamper is either dead or seriously injured. Stamper spent decades building his trust with the Underwoods which made him a power tool in Frank's war chest. But without Stamper doing Frank's dirty work he's now going to have to hope that Grayson can show the same trusting loyalty tat Doug gave him. Let's put it this way - Frank would have never gotten to President without Doug Stamper. He probably wouldn't have gotten to Whip and Frank started the show as Whip. But Frank is at the pinnacle so hopefully he won't have to do as much dirty work, just keep the Rachel Posner thing out of the paper.

(28,946 posts)I'll have to watch the season again -- so much going on.
Pretty sure Frank can't ever count on a good night's sleep. That's the problem with killing kings; even when you don't miss, it gives other potential killers ideas.
One other thought: Agent Meechem is deeply in love with Claire. He will do anything she asks.

(95,337 posts)he's in love with Frank.
I think he asked to be reassigned to Claire because of how big his crush was on Frank - it would be like me being on security detail for George Clooney!
Remember that the first sign of possible hookup with Meecham was when Frank was fixing the cut on Meecham's hand and Meecham started to caress Frank's hand back. At that point Meecham was willing to do whatever the Underwoods wanted just so he could be with Frank.
I think Meecham is aware of the relationship between the Underwoods. I think Claire and Frank are best friends and love each other but they don't have the normal sexual relations that normal married couples would have. It's more of a power union where they both can achieve their goals if they work together. Although I doubt the show will last more than 4 seasons total, I suspect that Claire is the type of woman who wouldn't mind being in the White House herself but knew she couldn't get there in conventional manners so she married power. Maybe in a way the Underwoods are a new version of the Clintons.
