This parrot is truly enjoying Ray Charles.....(who wouldn't right?)
However, it really shows creativity in how he/she dances and moves to the music.

One of my Mom's friends had a Cockatoo. She would call the cat like my friend did. When the cat came in she would laugh and hang upside down on the perch...preinternet version of ROTFLOL-PMP. When my friend would threaten to cook her for dinner, the bird would flap her wing, yell don't kill me, and roll back clutching the bar. Talk about drama queen-we still don't know where she got that.

(219 posts)I agreed this guy had wicked headspins! Looked almost like he was rotated completely around. lol
I had an African Grey (timneh) who would climb down from his cage..onto the couch...down to the floor and walk across the living room to bite our Labrador who KNEW he couldn't fight back. He would look at us and see in his eyes "Aren't you going to stop it from attacking me?"
Most people don't know that birds can understand and do react to words. They can know what they are saying as your example shows.

(219 posts)Although they don't learn to speak very well. They are more known for their ability to do tricks and interact with others. They are also very affectionate.
I have seriously thought about trying to purchase a hand fed baby...but just have never had that kind of expendable cash around.

(219 posts)I guess we will never know. I have had 2 pet birds in my life... a Blue Headed Conure and an African Grey (timneh) and both were very bright.
Parrots have been proven to be able to understand and communicate with language. Not just "Parroting". Alex the African Grey proved that. Since I know Cockatoos are super intelligent and I believe this bird is a species of Cockatoo... I lean towards the fact he was doing this on his own.
I could of course be completely wrong as it certainly looks like he was really focused on someone...but again they are such affectionate animals, it wouldn't surprise me that he was "dancing" with someone off camera....

(219 posts)I was correct that he is a cockatoo..... "Bare eyed". 27 years old now... and still dancing.
The owner doesn't say anything other than Frostie is a great dancer.
I found another Cockatoo video that was pretty amazing also... I am believing more that they do love to move to music.
Check it out...

(28,946 posts)They are very social animals and from their POV we're just weird looking birds, part of the flock. So if we're displaying, they'll display too. Like most intelligent animals they love to play.
