My daughter just landed a job in Richmond Va at the Federal Reserve Bank. Any Richmonders here?

She is in Alaska, a math/economics major and has never been to the East Coast. Any suggestions on housing, etc would be appreciated.
I'm so proud of her, a straight A student at the U of A in Anchorage. She moved there because she fell in love with a great guy
who I will soon be proud to call son-in-law. Being raised by me, as a single dad, in a house I built at the end of a dirt road, well. I'm just so happy for her. And a beautiful liberal. I wish I could post the photo of her with Obama in Albuquerque. He asked her her name
and she was so overwhelmed she could barely say "Jessica".
She has to be there around the middle of May....

We live just down the road in North Carolina- and though Kings Dominion (just outside Richmond) was my amusement park "most-excellent" as a child, I can't give detailed adult info about Richmond.

Congrats to your daughter, yourself and your family!

I've never even been to Richmond, so I'm no help there.

But I know what it means to be a proud father of a daughter (or two).

So while I can't help you with the real estate, I can join the others in offering my congratulations!

The west end has a lot of good housing. The coolist housing is in the fan district. If you want specific let me know.

My parents lived there for years so I have spent a lot of time there during numerous periods of time.

upcoming nuptials.

I know nothing about the Richmond area. I agree with the above poster who advised to re-post this in the Virginia Group.

Consider also, posting to GD for more exposure.

Way to go, Dad !! You have every right to be the Proud Papa !!

Do you know if she will be working at the Fed downtown or in the West End at the West Creek Campus? I'm about 5 miles from the West Creek campus and work there.

My opinion - young, just out of college, the Fan or Shockoe Slip would be a fun place to live. Liberal areas, walking to restaurants, bars, etc.

If she is more comfortable in the suburbs, the west end or "near" west end would be my recommendations. Feel free to PM me.
