Room-Escape Adventures-Something new for the nerds and geeks in our lives.

Has anyone tried any of the room-escapes listed below? Mega-Con is coming to Orlando in mid April so the paper finally released the names of all the hot geek zones in Central Florida. It's a paid subscription only article, but this section caught my eye:

Let the games begin

What's a room-escape game? Simply put, it's the nerdiest trend to come along since the invention of cosplay. In these life-size puzzle games, participants are locked in a room and typically given 60 minutes to uncover the clues that lead to a way out.

Orlando has jumped on this trend in a big way this year, with no fewer than four different room-escape venues. On International Drive alone, there are two (with another, The Escape Game, slated to open soon): Escapology (11951 International Drive, Orlando; escapology.com) offers well-crafted scenarios such as Cuban Crisis, where players must defuse a global nuclear confrontation on their way to the exit. And brain-game buffs can explore an Egyptian tomb or uncover the cure to a deadly virus at America's Escape Game (8723 International Drive, Orlando; americasescapegame.com).

In the downtown area, be sure to try out The Great Escape Room (23 S. Magnolia Ave., Orlando; thegreatescaperoom.com), the first and still toughest of Orlando's escape rooms. But for an immersive and especially geeky gaming experience, check out the Dungeons & Dragons-inspired "Imprisoned Creatures" scenario at It's A Trap! (6744 Aloma Ave., Winter Park; itsatrapgame.com).

I would give this a go if it ever comes to my town (Ha!) It might come to one of cities 50 miles in any direction but, I doubt it comes to my little town.

Thanks for the link, Baitball Blogger.

I don't know if it's the same series, but the quote that sticks in my mind in a similar maze genre is,

"The green room. I want the green room."

That was from the one guy that almost beat the maze, but was given an option to allow a woman to pass through safely. For being chivalrous, they lobotomized him.

Would love to get a group of DUers to do it together. What a way to find out if we have any team skills.
