I'm obsessed myself, and there have popped up some sites that are enabling my habit that I thought I'd share:
The Columbo Podcast is very fun, it's two Scottish guys going through each episode, in order, in depth. One of them is a longtime fan, and the other is new to the show and it's interesting to hear their different perspectives.
In addition to the podcast, at their website they have extensive production notes and trivia about each of the episodes they discuss. Also a message board. It's interesting that a lot of the fans seem to be British.

In addition to "the Scottish Podcast", there is an American one. Again it's two guys, discuss one episode at a time, but they don't go in order, and they have a different guest join them each time. Also it has a different feel, I'm pretty sure they're younger guys and it has more of a hip, jaded, pop-culture savvy take. Not exactly my thing but I'm sure other people might prefer this style

Finally, there is #ColumboTV on Twitter, once a month there is a tweet-along, where a group of people live-tweets along with an episode. Very fun, I've joined them twice. Again, it seems to be mostly British folks for whatever reason.

(68,644 posts)My good friend, a friend's mom, and I watch episodes whenever I visit.
It's my standard xmas present to her, whichever season is next.
Love the show!

(68,644 posts)Why, just a few weeks ago one of the seasons, maybe 4, had a bonus track, one of the Mrs. Colombo episodes.
Fascinating!
We rolled through all of the episodes but one this winter.

(6,261 posts)I'll certainly give it a listen. I always thought Columbo was the best American detective show.

(12,132 posts)We loved them all and watched them every week. McMillan was mom's fave but Columbo was mine.
But then she divorced my dad and married her boss and became super ultra funie baptist and we had to start going to church on sunday nights so I missed all the good stuff and mom got weird.
When I was in 6th grade my best friend (Eligio De La Garza! Can't find him on facebook or anything - haven't seen him in 40 years) and I did a Columbo skit for the class talent show. We cracked ourselves up but I don;t remember if anybody else cared lol.
Art_from_Ark
(27,247 posts)And my mom's favorite was also MacMillan and Wife, probably because "Wife" was the real brains behind the team

(14,691 posts)I also love to watch Colombo episodes to see (relive?) how awful (IMO) the fashions were in the '70s.
Thanks for the links!

Then looking at him more closely up and down, she launched into a whole catalog of improvements needed, finally extending to his junk car parked that the camera panned over to. Haha!1

(27,461 posts)i remember a scene like that with Baxter, except it was indoors so I'm not sure about the car?
In the same scene, Edith Head gave him a new tie, but before he left, Columbo very politely asked for his old tie back.

(26,117 posts)I've been watching 1 or 2 a night for a while now; I didn't even realize the last one was the final one available until it was over and the very first episode came up next.
Didn't they reboot the series again for a few episodes later? In the 80s, maybe? ...oops according to Wikipedia:
...now I want to see all those on Netflix, too!
Enrique
(27,461 posts)well worth watching, but adjust your expectations. They're not the same as the original series.
