After much research I've concluded the final dimensions of the can take into consideration the dimensions of the modern 'fridge. The 30pack fits nicely into the bottom shelf and leaves a good space for other tall stuff, leaving, IMHO, a slightly shorter fatter can.

It contains less liquid than a traditional cylinder can but it's so cute I couldn't resist.

Although at the cost of now having two pieces of metal that can become separated like the original pull tabs.

Environmental damage aside, it was fun to make chains with them.

Perhaps someone inventive will come up with a silly crafty dumb thing to do with the aluminum bottle tops. Not me. All I can think of is using them as tiny boats for ladybugs.

Commercial aircraft with pressurized cabins gain strength and become more rigid as the plane ascends.

Yes, there is something disturbingly Freudian about all this sort of engineering.

A mechanical engineer at JSC once described to me the vibration modes of the ET as something akin to the vibration modes of a grape.
