We sincerely apologize for any disappointment these changes may cause, in a letter signed by Arlene Marichal, senior director, solutions and special services that will be distributed to cruise passengers. However, we firmly believe this will result in a safer environment while also improving the embarkation process and the overall guest experience....
Carnival says that the new policy is an effort to combat passengers from bringing unauthorized alcohol aboard cruises. Some recent episodes bad behavior have been traced back to illicit alcohol and the inspection of a rising number of bottles was slowing down the boarding process....
Cruise Critic notes this is not the first time the cruise line has tried to ban passengers from carrying on their own liquids. In 2007, they banned all non-alcoholic drinks being brought on board but backtracked a few months later.

(50,603 posts)this actually being an effort to keep passengers from smuggling bottled water they didn't pay Carnival Cruz Line $10 per bottle for aboard ships, would it?
"We sincerely apologize for any disappointment these changes may cause," wrote Carnival Cruz Lines' solutions and special services office in a letter they figured they better clean up a little before they officially released it to the public, "but bunker fuel is getting really expensive and if we didn't figure out ways to gouge our customers for every cent they have, how the hell would we continue to show record profits?"

(4,851 posts)My neighbor bought a rebottler online with Coke caps. He dumps the cokes, washes the bottles, fills them with Jack D and reseals them with this machine, and it looks like a sealed coke bottle. The color if a bit off, but he says he never got caught, but others have. The mark up on bottled water is no where near the mark up on alcohol.

(14,400 posts)you have to buy the booze on the ship. They charge you $10 a cocktail and bill it to your state room, it's a major cash-cow for the cruise line and they don't want you to subvert it.

(1,681 posts)Buddy of mine got nailed for his "all-inclusive" drinks while on a cruise. They charged him $10 per drink & called it the "tip". Never been a cruise & have determined that I never will.
Filthy, disease ridden floating toilets of human shit are not for partying on. Fuck you cruise liners, never will I dare.
