Me, I can ignore ads and still let the people who provide me content make a buck but some people are just thieves who think shit can be given away for nothing. typical american selfish unrealistic view of how the world works.

Can you tell I try to make my living through ad supported content and apps? Just really pisses me off how casually folks brag about their theft.

I get more than enough junk ads in all forms. 95% of my snail mail never gets past the recycling bucket on my way back up the driveway.
Half my emails never get past my spam filter. Even gmail stopped sending me spam after I started forwarding it to abuse@gmail.com.
When websites start having more ads on the screen than content, I use Adblock.
I have a website too, I have no ads. The services I provide pay for the website and then some.
Calling someone a thief because they don't want to look at crap ads tells me what I need to know.

A co-worker told it to me and I laughed and "appropriated" it for my own use (here).

Typical american knee-jerk response to a small bit of not-that-well-done humor. Try creating something people will pay for outright.

Allowing scripts to run on your computer from random sites is foolish. If ads didn't do things like take over the screen or install malware, I'd be fine with allowing them. I start with things like NoScript and AdBlock, but allow on sites like DU where I'm more comfortable with trusting the site.
