Not by choice.... they stopped rural deliveries. I always read the local section first, front to back.

3. First I used to sort out the ads and sports, then read the couple of top items, Letters, comics

My grandparents and parents had subscriptions forever. I did for most of my adult life. Not necessarily because of the web but more because of DU activism (on my small scale), I stopped paying to the local wingnut-owned paper, but look at it online: Only the Local news and the Letters. The news-news I get from the web.

My boycott (member of one) is about not paying wingnuts to see content by wingnut jerks. I never read them, just paged past them, but paying meant supporting. It's great not seeing a pic of Ruben NAVARRETTE's ugly mug.

I then check the obits (to make sure I'm not listed) lol. I read all articles on the front page & then continue reading them when I get to that page. The op/ed page & letters to the editor are very important. I then read the local section, then the entertainment section & then the sports. On Thursdays there is an extra section of local news for the south & west areas of the city.

Me and my brothers as kids delivered the morning & evening papers. At one point my Dad had 3 papers delivered, the morning, evening and USA Today.

My 86 year old mom yesterday mentioned how small the paper is getting. It is getting thinner every day. When I delivered on Sundays as a kid, we had to take 3 wagons to deliver about 75 papers, they were that thick.

All 4 of us kids still have the paper delivered every morning (the evening paper went out of business in 1992), but instead of letting a kid have his first job, an adult delivers it and it's probably his 2nd or 3rd job of the week.

First thing I read is still the comics, then sports, then the rest...

And sections like "business" I never read...

10. I only read our little community neighborhood paper and the Sunday NYT.

For the first, it's front to back. The Sunday Times is more of a ritual for me. First of all, I'm always at work, so first thing is removing the Sports section and putting it in the waiting room for the patients. Then I read the Magazine, the Op-Ed, the Style, Arts/Lifestyles and the front section. I'll glance at the Business section for headlines only and then that goes to the waiting room. Last is the Book Review which I savor with a new cup of coffee and something yummy.
