(15,682 posts)It's got enough salt so no need to add any. (Of course I know that if it's unsalted butter the no salt needed would not apply.)

(1,257 posts)Popped in corn oil with homemade chile infused oil added.
Generally Chile de Arbol used to make the oil.
You can also just cook the chiles in the popping oil until fragrant, then remove them before adding corn.
I use 1/4 oil to 1 - 1 1/4 cup of kernels popped in a stainless dutch oven on high heat.

(3,541 posts)My favorite popcorn toppings are a mix of olive oil, garlic powder, nutritional yeast, and grated parmasean cheese. YUMMY!

(7,540 posts)however, I can also get down with garlic powder and parmesan.
I have friends who love to sprinkle ranch powder over popcorn (buttered or not).
Back when flavored microwave popcorn was a new thing, they did a "sour cream and onion" variety that was amazing. I don't know why they don't make that anymore.
ON EDIT: I googled a bit, and now remember it was a seasoning packet that came with the bag. Now I have to find that stuff sold in a shaker.

(2,157 posts)Bought those once out of curiosity. Had to air the house out and the microwave smelled like pork rinds (not in a good way) for weeks.
I'd rather burn popcorn, unpleasant as that is.

(33,056 posts)I watched it bloom from 8K tweets, to more then 175K before I fell asleep around 5am. I learned,
1. no soy butter on popcorn
2. I will never check out #Ted Cruz on trending topics, expecting to go to sleep much earlier. I laughed way way too hard.

(21,948 posts)Please explain. I know what this is, but I've never heard of it for a topping for popcorn.

(33,056 posts)I first tried it @ a local independent move theater on the pop corn and enjoyed it. For me, I put the pop corn in a brown paper grocery sized bag, then immediately shake on brewers yeast, close the bag, shake the bag to distribute the brewers yeast, then pour it into a bowl to eat.
Hope this helps.

(2,243 posts)That and a pinch of smoked hot paprika?
Might just work.
Then again I'm the guy that read the 'flop-tarts' cartoon on the pop-tarts box and thinks they missed the boat declaring grilled banana a failure. They just need a little brown sugar caramel and that is a Bananas Foster pop-tart!
