(13,621 posts)heard. I only ever had a couple of those albums back in the day.
I could fill a whole CD with nothing but quality Terry Kath songs we never hear.

(2,493 posts)They eventually got a little too pop for me, but they helped me find Tower of Power

(23,156 posts)I loved that album and played it over and over. This is a great song. Soon as I saw the title, I hoped for this result!!

(2,493 posts)Speaking of the Wayback machine, I got to see them do this when the song was still new, believe it or not when they opened for Jimmy Hendrix. Always glad to make a bird happy

(23,156 posts)Chicago and Hendrix are both groups I missed seeing live, damn it!
One of one of them have stopped touring for some reason, but evidently Chicago still tours

(2,225 posts)Ive seen them in concert many times. This is one of the best songs ever. I remember practicing slow dancing to this beautiful song with my date for senior prom. I was going to be wearing shoes with a higher heel than I was used to and a long dress. I didnt want to fall flat on my face! Sweet memories!

(2,493 posts)But it was the original band. I think men invented high heels so women could not run away from them. Being male I can't imagine high heels and a long dress that just seems like a trap

(65,171 posts)My brousin was a huge Chicago fan.
This song was played at so many weddings & proms, we probably can't get an accurate count.
I was a bad bandmate in that I refused to play this song in one band that did occasional weddings. I taught it to the woman singer. Kind of snobby, huh?

(2,493 posts)Especially if it was the bride and groom requesting it, it being their day. I remember some night someone trying to teach it to me on the piano, so it must be a very simple song because I don't play piano. Play it for your wife, she'll love it

(65,171 posts)She hates Chicago's music! She'd hit my hands with a mallet if I played it.

(2,493 posts)The original members, when they were the Chicago Transit Authority don't deserve the derision. Even Hendrix thought they were cool enough to open for him. After losing members and becoming a formula pop band sure

(65,171 posts)The guys could play, but the horns lacked punch for me.
And, I was not a fan of Lamm's playing.
Serafine, on the other hand, was a monster.

(2,493 posts)Chicago Transit Authority?

(65,171 posts)I didn't hear the kind of counterpoint & harmonic layering I need to hear.
I know I'm in the minority on this. But, I hear the way I hear.

(2,493 posts)And understand, I don't like a lot of very famous and popular artists and even genres myself

(65,171 posts)...I have 3 types of musical artists.
1. Those I really like & respect the heck out of their talent or skill.
2. Those I'm not really a fan of (some I actively dislike) but I understand why others do like them. (Examples would be Chicago, Billy Joel, The Stones, Springsteen...) I don't necessarily hate them but they don't float my boat.
3. Those I don't like & can't fir the life of me understand why anyone does.
That ought to give you a window into how I hear things.
