(30,790 posts)It is your choice all the way.
I consider him more of a jazz artist, but I won't argue about the quality of his music.

(3,022 posts)this was a concert that has Fred McDowell, Sleepy John Estes, Booker White all of whom I had heard before. There is also Napoleon Strickland who has a fife and drum band, Piano Red who as the name suggests plays piano, and an appearance by R.L. Watson & Josiah Jones(John Fahey and Bill Barth). I wish I could have seen this event the album changed my teenage musical life.

(30,790 posts)I have Muddy Waters, King of Chicago Blues, a boxed set of four CDs. It is earlier stuff.
I also have Folk Singer and an early recording by Lomax, when Muddy was still in the Delta. It includes spoken interviews.
A couple of years ago, I went to a social event that had several speakers. One was Terry Abrahamson. His topic was, "In the Belly of there Blues, Chicago to Boston to L.A., 1969 to 1983. A Memoir." Abrahamson is a Chicago kid who traveled with Muddy Waters and became well acquainted with several other Chicago bluesmen and women when they were still with us. His book of the same title is worth purchasing.
