With the help of a tripod (or monopod if you have steady hands) you can get an even slower shutter speed to show the motion of the pins better, assuming they let you bring one in. #440a (blue ball in lane 24) was starting to get interesting at 1/80.

I know how difficult it is to take action shots, as I was taking photos at a basketball game yesterday! And although a tri-pod would certainly have many advantages, during some sporting events, it's just not practical.

Sigh . . . next week it's hockey! Wish me luck! LOL!
