Here's the new Olympus retro OM E-M5

This is the pro version of the Pen series. I believe it has a 16mp sensor. Not sure of the price, but it could be in the $1,200 range.
This harks back to the days of the OM series. The actual release date in the 8th.

The original OM-1s were great cameras for the mid-'70s. Although I shot Minolta at the time, my girlfriend had one, and I got to use it for a project we worked on at college. It was an absolute pleasure to use.

I've always wished that Olympus had decided to try to use the OM as a model for their initial DSLRs, instead of messing around with 4/3rds sensors and some uninspiring body designs. Had they done so, they might have been a lot less of a financial basket-case than they are now.

Their products are good

This new camera is weather sealed. That's something I could have used this weekend.

Oly users wanted a pro level Pen, and it appears they were listening.

Props to Canon for listening to G series users. We asked for a bigger sensor, and they delivered. (G1X)

...is that they're in the middle of a huge financial scandal, including the revelation that they'd been cooking the books for years, and might have even gone into debt to the Japanese Mob. There is talk of stripping them of their seat on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, which would likely bring about the demise of the company.

or outright buy the company. Samsung might profit the most by buying Olympus.
