Last year I went to Normandy and took a photo of the beach at Etretat. It's here:
This year my family and I (sister, niece/hubby/daughter) went to Paris and London. One day in Paris I was feeling like poo so I crashed while they went to the Orsay Museum. This was in April. My niece finally got all her photos organized into Dropbox and sent them to me.
As I was looking through her photos of Orsay, this one stood out. Monet was all I knew. I Googled Monet paintings at Orsay and found it. It is the same place, painted in 1883. I was just stunned.
Thought I would share!!

Thanks for sharing.

(17,241 posts)... the painting covers more area than the photo, hence you don't see the beach. The pic linked downthread resembles the Monet more closely.

(34,140 posts)That was not shown in your photo. I found this page: http://planetden.com/nature/beautiful-heights-sea-cliffs-etretat-france
And yes there is still a building. And they still pull boats up on the beach!
What wonderful pictures - both yours and your daughter's.

(34,140 posts)But the building in the painting peaked my interest. I bet both buildings, old and new, were/are hotels!
