**SUMMER Seasonal Contest Submissions will close on 9/9 midnight Pacific**
The host is in North Carolina and I've been watching the predicted storm track for Irma. Just heard our Governor Roy Cooper (D) on the
phone with The Weather Channel. Although I am in central NC and it's unlikely we'll get anything more than some wind (not even tropical
storm force) and rain, we are in an area with lots and lots of trees. It's not unusual for us to lose power in a summer thunderstorm when
a wind gust takes some tree limbs down on a power line. Usually power is restored within a few hours. So we've never bothered to get a generator.
But if Irma comes through knocking out power in a lot of the state, it could take them longer to restore power to us.
Thinking about the timing of the contest in relationship to the storm, I'm going to close submissions one day earlier than planned. Last chance to enter will be before midnight, Saturday, September 9th. I'll have the prelim threads up on Sunday morning (the 10th) and leave them open for voting for 72 hours minimum. If you don't see me put up the finals shortly thereafter, it will be due to power loss and I will get them up as soon as we have power restored or I can take my laptop somewhere to get wifi.
