We lived in two stone homes in England. Once the stone walls got cold all the way through, no radiator could cope. And the windows! They just let the cold in, unlike German windows. I stuffed the chimney flue with boxes to keep the wind out and we had stuffed dachshunds along the door bottoms to minimize wind. Amazing how one can cope when young!!!!

We live in London but have a house in Yorkshire that is older than God - very thick stone walls, and a constant gale through very old and warped doors. Windows that cannot be replaced, without paying a Kings ransom, because they are protected. Ten layers on and it is still bloody freezing!

Very nice shot.
