Took this of my grand daughter a few years ago with a little 5mpxl Nikon Coolpix I had converted to IR. Revisited it in Post Processing to add emphasis to Kate. I think it works!

(32,122 posts)Dramatic landscape, and the little shot of pink that draws your eye to your granddaughter in the black-and-white surroundings is very cool.
Well done!

(38,187 posts)I usually hate black and white, but seeing it this way is stunningly beautiful. It could easily be a painting. Great job.

(14,559 posts)Olympus Pen EPL2 so I can use all my lenses with it. It is modified to 'see' all wave lengths from UV through visible to IR. Using various filters I can come up with some interesting effects.

(2,575 posts)Those little Coolpix are great cameras, aren't they?

(14,559 posts)I think they designed it specifically for real estate which is what I was doing at the time. 28-90 (equivalent) zoom, time lapse video and all in a package small enough to fit in a fanny pack or handbag. It was 'only' 5 mega pixels but in the early days of digital that was considered 'pro'. I've since moved to Olympus for personal reasons as well as technical capabilities but cameras don't make pictures, they only extract them from your head so you can share with others.

(2,575 posts)My first digital was a Minolta Konica. Nice camera, but an early digital and kind of slow and bulky. Took it to Burning Man in 2011 and got an enormous number of spectacular pictures. All the while, I sweated the dangers posed to the mechanism and optics by the talcum-fine dust there. It survived, but wasn't designed for that sort of environment. I'm also not that technically proficient with a higher-end camera.
The tightly-sealed, simple point-and-shoot style of the Coolpix, and its tiny size, have made it my constant companion at all the Burns since!

(2,575 posts)Last year, with a lot of help from the forum admin, I posted one picture from a Burn in the "Portals" contest.
I'd like to post more, but really don't know how to do it! The process got so complicated and difficult a couple of years ago that I don't even try, anymore.

(14,559 posts)I use Imgur.com. Log in, set up an account (no cost, minimal information).
Click add images then browse. Find the folder or the drive that has your pics. Click the pic and upload. Contests want the long side to be 1024 pixels so click the image, then edit (lower right corner) then click on largest dimension and change to 1024. Click on the image and click save.
Or just screw it and post at whatever size the file is.
By now you should see your gallery. Click the image, choose an option on the right and then do a ctrl v to put it in your post. Choice doesn't seem to make much difference.
There are other image hosting sites and they all offer extra cost options. I find this one to be user friendly.

(15,970 posts)Spent many hours there. We used to pick up trash that lazy people couldn't be bothered to put in the trash "cans", but I enjoyed doing my part to keep it looking beautiful and serene.
Do you still have your sailboat? You've got the beautiful Eagle Mountain Lake close by.
We were shooting real estate photography up that way last year. The country won't be much of country much longer.
