Under the Dome is certainly broadcast televisions most enjoyable science-fiction/fantasy series, a summer treat that, while sometimes silly and over-the-top, is never less than energetically imaginative and aware of the history of its genre.
The Thursday night third-season premiere two hours airing on CBS if you can survive the second episode of Big Brother is a showcase for all of Under the Domes strengths, and its forgivable flaws. Two notable actors have been added to the mix, and they add a lot: Marg Helgenberger begins her role as a therapist sent to Chesters Mill to help survivors of the dome to heal, and ERs Eriq La Salle debuts briefly but effectively as a dastardly villain who thinks he has some control over whats happening under that dome.

I usually don't care for science-fiction/fantasy but I really, really like this show.

We had a thunderstorm going on that night and electricity was knocked out right at the end. Melanie had just placed the egg on the "pod?" What happened?

(29,792 posts)Not sure what the heck happened to the original story line last season, they really ran off the tracks. So won't be watching. Will keep reading here though, to possibly netflix it if worth it.

(29,792 posts)CBS' summer series "Under the Dome" was a big hit in its first season but ratings fell in its second season. The network announced in August that the third season will be its last, ending on September 10.
