(24,373 posts)This is like splitting the state into two states. WE hear about it every election cycle and it never happens.
The DNC does not seem to want to allow it.
Brother Buzz
(36,507 posts)It was moved back to the traditional month of June to save money by consolidating elections.
To Hell with The DNC, they have no clout or say in when California holds their primaries.
Mr.Bill
(24,373 posts)I was referring to having it even earlier. Again I hope so, but I don't see it happening. And if if you think the DNC has no clout on this matter, you're wrong. In the past, they have threatened to not seat our delegates at their convention. I don't know if they would have the nerve to do that, but they could. They make the rules.

(36,507 posts)California's 2008 presidential primary was held in February.
Mr.Bill
(24,373 posts)I had forgotten about 2008. The interesting thing is, Hillary Clinton won that primary, and Obama went on tho win the nomination.
Brother Buzz
(36,507 posts)Plus, the June primaries work much, much better for all the other races on the ticket

Brother Buzz
(36,507 posts)the cost of elections goes WAY, WAY down.

(7,886 posts)One reason I love Bernie, he kept us in the race, and visited Vallejo! I can't think of another candidate that's done that.
Brother Buzz
(36,507 posts)Sanders, to his credit, had one Hell of a ground game in California. His grass roots movement was definitively growing, but unfortunately, it was too little too late. Things might have been different if he had been stumping for a March primary instead of June.
Lordquinton
(7,886 posts)I missed that somehow.
Still love that he kept us in the race.
