California Highway Patrol officers suspended for allegedly faking overtime

An unknown number of California Highway Patrol officers assigned to the agency's East Los Angeles office have been suspended for allegedly putting in for thousands of dollars of overtime for which they were not entitled, officials announced Friday.

It was not immediately clear how many officers were involved. Results of the CHP's internal investigation are being shared with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, officials said.

CHP officials said the un-earned overtime totaled about $350,000.

According to the Los Angeles Times, about 110 people work at the station, and the agency was shifting extra staff to its Southern Division to cover for the suspended officers.

The officers allegedly padded their overtime, claiming to be working longer hours on Caltrans protection details during freeway work.

When state employees falsely (perjury) file state documents like time cards their work then they are criminals with badges and guns. These people do not do much except drive up and down streets. These people are unsafe drivers since they routinely drive unsafe high speeds. All the cheaters should be fired and placed in prison for their CHEATING on the job.

Senior officers manipulate pay scales to inflate their retirement pay, more than doubling it in many cases, and have been doing so for more than thirty years. It is well known, and has been "investigated" by CHP Internal Affairs and whitewashed repeatedly.

Inflating overtime is the least of the CHP's methods of stealing money from the public.
