Iowa rep will file lawsuit over immigration announcement

(CNN) - Firebrand Republican Rep. Steve King announced his intention Friday to file a lawsuit against President Barack Obama, calling unconstitutional the administration's plan to stop deporting some young, illegal immigrants who entered the U.S. as children.

"This is no longer a debate about immigration policy. The debate is now about the Constitution and the Rule of Law," the Iowa congressman said in a statement. "I am preparing to bring suit against the President and ask for a court to enjoin him from implementing his unconstitutional and unlawful policy."

The R's here are of the Tea Party variety. Birthers.

I'm sorry to say that the craziest fruit loops are all here in Iowa.

Is Steve King that full of hate? Is his district that full of hate? Is America falling apart?

Hatred, fear, anger, narrow-mindedness, racism etc. He's a cornucopia of right wind values.

And I take pride when I tell people from other places that I'm an Iowan. But this clown makes it extremely difficult to keep the pride going, even though I live far from his district. It's a national perception and it ain't fair. So let's hope that Christie Vilsack beats him and beats him soundly. Then maybe he'll fade away and we'll never hear from him again.

I do not accept that he "represents" us. I choose to see him (and his followers) as an aberration.

to pick its immigrants like picking the best pups of a litter.
Seriously.

http://www.salon.com/2012/06/15/steve_king_if_i_offend_you_you_dont_belong_here/

Iowa Republican Congressman Steve King caught flak last month after he was recorded comparing immigrants to dogs, in remarks first reported here at Salon, But now the Tea Party lawmaker is doubling down on the analogy, and saying that you probably don’t belong in this country if you are offended by his remarks.

At a town hall event in late May, King said the U.S. should pick only the best immigrants from around the world the same way one choses the best dogs from a litter of puppies. “You get the pick of the litter and you got yourself a pretty good bird dog. Well, we’ve got the pick of every donor civilization on the planet,” King told the crowd. The comments, recorded by the liberal group American Bridge, quickly attracted condemnation from Democrats, pro-immigrant groups and even the libertarian Competitive Enterprise Institute. The campaign of King’s Democratic challenger Christie Vilsack said, “If we’re going to have a real discussion on immigration, we should start by acknowledging that immigrants are human beings.”

"Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name,
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

This one is sort of personal since I am married to a LEGAL immigrant. Wonder if she's "good enough" for that rat bastard (apologies to any rat bastards who take offense to being compared with that)? Hell, even though we are not residents of the fourth district, I may drop him a scathing email anyway. Better calm down first though. Do not want to get thrown in jail because of that idiot.

But I managed to scrape up a few bucks to help out.

I'm beginning to wonder how Boswell will do against Latham. Latham has the monetary and registered voter advantage. Sounds like it's going to be a tough run for Boswell.
