Hate earthquakes. They're so damn scary when all your things start falling down all over the place!

Hope everyone is all right.

Earthquake -> Your stuff is all over the living room floor.
Tornado -> Your stuff is all over the county.

Sounds like earthquake is the better deal.

Tornadoes as a child in Michigan (1956 Standale tornado http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April_1956_Hudsonville-Standale_tornado ) and earthquake as an adult in Southern California (1971 Sylmar/San Fernando EQ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1971_San_Fernando_earthquake )

Frankly, I don't much care for either one!

I guess not as long as there is 'earth' under your feet. I live in WA, our last one was 6.8. I HATE EARTHQUAKES.

Usually so small they are not felt. I read an article in Wired magazine that said they are Ice Age rebound. Large ice sheet crushed the earth a very long time ago and the earth is springing back from the weight of the long gone ice. Amazing.

I didn't feel a thing, or know anything about it until checking the news at around 9:30 last night.

I'm in Western Mass, in one of the small Hill Towns, at an altitude of around 1300 feet. All/mostly rock. So I'm not surprised I didn't feel it.

Some years ago (less than 10), I was living in Southeastern Mass. I awoke early one weekend morning to a loud rumbling noise. I looked out the window for an explanation. Nothing. It was all quiet. I began to consider the possibility that the basement furnace was about to explode. It was really frightening. I went out into the kitchen with the thought of removing myself from the house. I looked at my pot rack, and the pots and pans are all swaying back and forth as if propelled by some unseen hand. I have never seen the like. Sometime later it was reported on the news that an earthquake had occurred somewhere in New England.
