Here's a well done piece on his life, times and passing.

I live in Detroit and had hoped to run into him this year through friends in the local music scene. I even hoped that somehow I might be lucky enough score a solitary lesson from one of the original metal/punk/garage guitar gunslingers, for all the right reasons.

I'm very saddened to hear this. Apparently, the diagnosis of his illness was just at the beginning of this January, so his suffering was, gracefully, not prolonged ....

With his charity of getting instruments to prisoners and all. I was lucky enough to have seen him at the Tartar Field concert that's shown in the clip I posted. What an amazing show that was.
