It looks like I'm going to be housebound for a while longer, sigh.

apartment buildings behind my duplex yesterday afternoon into evening.

The lots are joined, so all the students were able to pack in shoulder to shoulder, like at a rock concert! No masks, no social distancing.

This is KU. It's been open for in-person classes for just 2 weeks. By the end of week one, they already had over 500 documented CV cases. Basically, having in-person classes is all about playing Big 12 football.

I am so glad I retired last year from teaching at KU. In general, except for in stores, people are pretty maskless around town. Stores are pushing customers to mask, though, and that helps, since I go to the grocery store every 2 weeks or so, but otherwise stay isolated at home.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
