Painter - Smith debate?

There was a letter in the strib yesterday - not online, for some reason - signed by many, who want a Smith - Painter debate so they will know exactly where each stands on many issues.

Frankly, I don't know why any Democrat should vote for someone whose only claim to fame as a not a Republican is going after Trump. But, perhaps, if there is a debate, this point will be exposed.

And, by the way, there are five and six DFL candidates for the two senate seats.

He ran against Ellison last round as a Gooper. People should be made aware of this.

That way we can determine how far Painter is willing to go to be considered a Democrat. And maybe Smith should be asked to explain her support for the Polymet land swap, which many environmentalists oppose.

You and I know just how the Range DFL thinks. When you end up with a Bartender as you Standard barrier. We got issues. This has been the weak spot in the Caucus System.

It's fairly clear where each of them stands, although they're both doing a good job of serving as slates for people to project their hopes and desires on. Richard Painter can fuck right off, though.
