Mandel says he wouldn’t have backed auto bailout

CLEVELAND: Republican Josh Mandel, who’s running for Ohio’s U.S. Senate seat, is making it clear that he wouldn’t have supported the auto bailout.

Mandel and incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown faced off for the first time at a lively and sometimes raucous debate Monday in Cleveland. Both candidates addressed a question about how the auto bailout has affected Ohio.

Until now, Mandel has repeatedly refused to say whether he would have supported the bailout. But he made it clear Monday that while he supports policies that help the auto industry, he would not have backed the bailout.

He says it cost too many nonunion employees at Delphi Corp. their pensions.

Brown has made his backing of the auto bailout a big part of his campaign.

Hand him a condom.

Joshua A. "Josh" Mandel[1] (born September 27, 1977) is the current Ohio State Treasurer. A member of the Republican Party, Mandel has held elective office since 2003: as a city councilman from 2003 to 2007, a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2007 to 2010 and as State Treasurer since 2011. He is the Republican challenger to incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown in the 2012 U.S. Senate election in Ohio.

Mandel is a lying weasel I can't stand looking at him.

Sherrod Brown came across great as usual, really has got some humility about the whole thing. He's a down to earth guy and doesn't let it go to his head so far.

He is vapid and stupid and completely unethical. He opens his mouth only to spout lies.

The bad part in this campaign is that Sherrod Brown is the main Senate target of Karl Rove and the Citizens United money deluge. I can't drive on any highway or watch any local TV without hearing how Sherrod is personally responsible for every ill known to humankind.

And even more pathetic is that the political "reporter" on one local news station said that Mandel "held his own" in the debate today.
