DEP Examining Using Abandoned Mine Lands For Solar Power

Some state officials are proposing a new idea to make use of abandoned mine lands.

The Department of Environmental Protection is conducting a study to look at the feasibility of using some of those abandoned lands as a place for solar energy projects.

To install solar panels over the length of the open CAP canal carrying water from the Colorado River to Southern Arizona. This had been done in India to prevent evaporation and supply power at the same time.
Naturally, the republican state government didn't even consider it.
