Kesha is running for the Democratic nomination for US Senate. Kesha is not a Democrat but a member of the LaRouche cult http://www.juanitajean.com/2013/12/05/some-creepy-breaking-news/ Kesha's main goal is to impeach President Obama. i have met Kesha a couple of times and she scares me.
Here is a good picture of Kesha
Please do not let Kesha get into a runoff. She is dangerous and scary.

(4,735 posts)not supportive of mainline Democratic values, and maybe a kook, but technically still a Democrat. It is like that Westboro church guy - he ran for statewide office as a registered Democrat - I believe he got about 20% of the vote.

(1,720 posts)For primaries, voters may select to vote in either party's primary election. However, voters do not select a party affiliation. A Texas voter's registration card may be stamped DEMOCRATIC or REPUBLICAN, but this is to help prevent the voter from then voting in the other party's primary. Again, this is not registration.
This system has been in effect for decades.

(4,735 posts)prove you are a Democrat to run in the Democratic primary? I certainly can see how this can cause mischief!

(112,620 posts)this year which means that should be very few of them jumping over to elect the weakest Democrat--the GOP has to get their own house in order first.

(145,805 posts)In 2010 and 2012, the State Democratic Party have adopted a couple of resolutions that state that in effect that Kesha is not a member of the Democratic Party and her positions are against the best interests of the party. I understand that the SDEC (the governing body of the Texas Democratic Party) adopted a new resolution this December as to Kesha. Under these resolutions, all Democrats and democratic clubs are free to exclude Kesha and ignore her. Kesha was not a delegate for either the 2010 or 2012 state conventions and I am sure that she will not be selected this year.
My county party chair is a member of the SDEC and he told us about the resolution.

Alameel will spend enough money in the runoff to avoid being defeated -- he may even lead going into the runoff on the strength of his mailers and TV ads -- but Rogers has been on the ballot a few times, she has the highest name ID of all four candidates, and she is the only African American at the top of the statewide ballot (except for Steve Brown, who is actually downballot at the Railroad Commission position).
She's also a woman in the Year Of.
The TexTrib has had some notoriously bad polling in the past, but this race is the only one that raises my eyebrow on the D side.

The Republican numbers look believable.

(145,805 posts)I am hoping that the polling is wrong and Kesha does not make the run off.
The Fort Bend Democrats still have some Kesha is not a Democrats signs and Don Bankston has a web domain for Not a Democrat that Alameel may be using

(145,805 posts)Here is an e-mail that I just received from Chairman Hinojosa about Kesha
Dear _____,
Kesha Rogers is one of the candidates on the ballot for U.S. Senator in the Democratic primary -- but do not be fooled. Kesha Rogers is not a Democrat.
Ms. Rogers is part of the LaRouche Movement, which has a history of violent rhetoric. The focus of her campaign is impeaching President Obama. Rogers has even paraded around Texas with a poster of the President with a Hitler mustache.
Rogers believes that the U.S. economy is secretly controlled by London financial institutions and she has advocated for colonizing Mars. Thats not what real Democrats stand for.
The Texas Democratic Party does not support the candidacy of Kesha Rogers or anyone that aligns themselves with the LaRouche Movement. Our State Democratic Executive Committee even issued a resolution against her campaign. Do not vote for Kesha Rogers in the primary.
Rogers candidacy is a insult to our Party, our President, our state, our Democratic values, and to all the work you are doing to move our state forward.
Do not vote for Kesha Rogers.
All my best --
Gilberto Hinojosa
Chair, Texas Democratic Primary
I would hate to see Kesha in a run off.
