Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said Friday that Ted Nugent rightly apologized for degrading comments about President Barack Obama that resurfaced after Abbott welcomed the polarizing rock musician to his campaign for governor.
But in a statement Friday, Abbott didnt back away from inviting Nugent into his Republican campaign. He said, Its time to move beyond this after his appearance with Nugent this week put Abbott on the defensive for one of the few times in his campaign.
Nugent last month called Obama a subhuman mongrel in an interview. He apologized earlier Friday after Gov. Rick Perry and U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky criticized the remark.
Appearing on WBAP Radio in Dallas, Nugent said, I apologize for using the street fight terminology of subhuman mongrel. The rocker said he should have called Obama violator of his Constitution, the liar that he is. He said the president lied about the health care law.

Does anybody else consider what Nugent said to be an apology?

(153,261 posts)Nugent essentially apologized to his racist red base FOR BEING FORCED TO APOLOGIZE - that is NOT an apology but it certainly is the kind of cowardly SHIT Abbott will accept
Nugent doesn't give one poop.

(2,091 posts)And why are we wasting our time giving Nugent any publicity? He calls more insults an apology? He is the idiot who pooped in his pants to show he was unable to serve in the military. What a waste of protoplasm.

(2,567 posts)That is the kind of wording the Nazis used to justify Jewish genocide, as Wolf Blitzer pointed out on CNN this week. In checking the statement, PolitiFact highlighted the research of David Myers, a historian at the University of California at Los Angeles, who said that the Nazis called the Jews untermensch, or subhuman, and that that word and mischling, or mongrel, were intoned with daily regularity by the Nazi propaganda machine.
