CBS' Bob Schieffer announces he'll retire this summer
Longtime CBS correspondent Bob Schieffer announced Wednesday night in Fort Worth that he will be retiring this summer.
The 1959 graduate of Texas Christian University was speaking at the university's 11th annual Schieffer Symposium.
Schieffer, 78, has been a reporter for more than half a century and has anchored CBS' Face the Nation for 24 years.
Before joining CBS in 1969, he worked at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, where he was the first journalist from a Texas newspaper to report from Vietnam.
