3 former Beaumont ISD employees sentenced for fraud

A federal judge on Monday sentenced a former Beaumont ISD employee to two years and nine months in prison and his wife and a "sometimes girlfriend" to five years' probation for defrauding the school district of more than $280,000 over three years.

Daryl Johnson, Erin Johnson and Kailyn Pete will also have to pay back the nearly $284,410 in restitution. The Johnsons are responsible for paying about $194,000 and Daryl Johnson and Pete are responsible for paying the remaining $90,000.

Payments must be made every month at a value equivalent to at least 10 percent of their monthly income.

U.S. District Judge Ron Clark sentenced the three according to the terms of the plea agreements made between the defendants, their attorneys and the prosecutor, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Batte.
