Texas AG called in after prosecutor withdraws from Lubbock's former city attorney's sex assault case

The special prosecutor in the sexual assault case against Lubbock’s former city attorney has withdrawn from the case.

Randall Sims, the 47th District Attorney in Potter County, said the sexual assault case against Sam Medina will be prosecuted by the attorney general’s office.

Sims said he withdrew from the case because the case load in his office is too much and he is down three attorneys.

“I got too much work going on in my home county and we’re short staffed,” he said.
