(7,932 posts)"Research shows that corporal punishment is associated with an increase in delinquency, antisocial behavior, and aggression in children, according to the American Psychoanalytic Association, which strongly condemns the use of such punishment."
This explains why the GOP is so fucked up.

(220 posts)Hi,
It is true the Republicans are embarrassing intelligent people everywhere. Back in the 80's I had a Republican friend & he got me into the Republican state convention to watch in the Gallery. I was able to talk to some of the delegates & they all seemed like nice intelligent people & the only thing they were really obsessed with was Taxes & the debt.
When did the Republicans become so crazy ? It is not just here in Texas, but all over the country. The problems in Ohio, that New Jersey governor that acts like a jerk all the time, that crazy woman from Minnesota that ran for President & of course that former Governor from Alaska. Rick Perry acts like he is just Crazy all the time, but I think he is more corrupt than crazy.
I was in the way of the Trans-Texas corridor project a few years ago & I always thought he was in the pocket & taking bribes from the companies involved with that thing.

(30,252 posts)...a lot of Texas independents are going to say "Fuck it" and vote for the Republicans no matter how crappy their platform is.
I could be wrong. But our Democratic state platform needs some serious overhauling.

(28,290 posts)Jesus H. Christ. Gun activists never, ever miss the opportunity to portray Democrats as the bad guys, do they? Texas Republicans slime our state by putting out a platform that's 500 years out of date, but you want Democrats to make nice-nice with Ted Nugent? Jesus H. Christ with a 30-round magazine........

(30,252 posts)I have liberated myself from the "either/or" model that you speak of a long time ago. And I'll take that 30-round mag, thanks.
And you obviously missed the part where I was marching with Carol Kent under the hot sun yesterday in Dallas. Come on.

The Terrifying Texas GOP Platform
John Harvey: "While I am hardly in agreement with everything forwarded by the Democrats (and have taken aim at President Obama on a number of occasions, especially with respect to his desire to balance the federal budget), it is difficult to believe that what the Republicans put together during their convention in Fort Worth was even written in the 21st century."
