Truck's Trump f-bomb catches Fort Bend County sheriff's attention

FORT BEND COUNTY, TEXAS - The Fort Bend County sheriff's Facebook post about a pickup driver with a F__K Trump sign on his window has blown up.

Sheriff Troy Nehls posted a photo of the truck and a sign that reads "F__k Trump and F__k you for voting for him."

In his post, Nehls said there could be charges against the driver: "I have received numerous calls regarding the offensive display on this truck as it is often seen along FM 359. If you know who owns this truck or it is yours, I would like to discuss it with you. Our Prosecutor has informed us she would accept Disorderly Conduct charges regarding it, but I feel we could come to an agreement regarding a modification to it."

The post has thousands of comments and shares.

The driver could claim it says "FRACK TRUMP" or FLICK or FRISK or FROCK or FISHHOOK or FORK, etc

The black boxes were photoshopped into the picture to hide the profanity.

I personally see it as a freedom of speech issue and I don't see how it incites disorderly conduct. If it did incite disorderly conduct it would almost certainly be because a Trumplican had a fit about it and either caused a wreck or vandalized the truck. As a matter of fact, my brother is the person that showed me the article and he is upset about it since he supports Trump.

Don't they have, you know, those newfangled things called "computers" on which there are "databases" of license plate numbers? And, don't they have to register vehicles in Texassistan, which would enable law enforcement to, you know, conduct "research" to find out the registered owner of that truck?

Or is that all just too much Big Gubmint for Texassistan?

I just checked Juanita Jean--one of the geniuses who posts there had a similar idea, i.e. why isn't the sheriff simply looking up the license plate number. Maybe because he realizes he will be in a heap of trouble re free speech. A concept which probably befuddles the guy unless it's wingnut speech.

I know both Rep. Reynolds and Brian Middleton. This will be fun to watch http://www.chron.com/neighborhood/fortbend/news/article/Owner-of-F-Trump-truck-attorney-threaten-12371570.php?ipid=happening

Karen Fonseca, the owner of a white truck at the center of a social media dispute with Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls, is considering a civil rights lawsuit against the sheriff's office.

Fonseca's attorney, Brian Middleton, made the announcement during a press conference on Monday. Middleton added that the American Civil Liberties Union has also expressed interest in a possible lawsuit.

The threat of legal action stems from controversy over a Facebook post Nehls made on Wednesday, Nov. 15, regarding Fonseca's truck, which bears a sticker that reads "F--- Trump and f--- you for voting for him."
