Republican candidates claim LGBTQ people are 'mentally disturbed,' accuse transgender kids' parents

Republican candidates claim LGBTQ people are ‘mentally disturbed,’ accuse transgender kids’ parents of ‘child abuse.’

Republican candidates from two Houston-area congressional districts railed against LGBTQ rights during a forum in Houston last week.

The Jan. 18 forum, hosted by the Houston Area Pastor Council at Houston’s First Baptist Church, featured 16 candidates who are vying to replace retiring U.S. Reps. Ted Poe and Gene Green in Congressional Districts 2 and 29, respectively.

Among the questions posed to the candidates was whether they would support adding sexual orientation and gender identity as protected classes in federal civil rights laws.

“As a father of three little girls, I’m disgusted by the possibility that this may even come up as a bill in Congress, let alone be enacted,” said Rick Walker, who’s seeking the GOP nomination in District 2. “I don’t want to have to worry about my little girls going into a Chick-fil-A bathroom and running into a mentally disturbed man in there.”

However, playing this idiotic drumbeat of bigotry doesn't work, it doesn't put money in our pockets, it doesn't pay the bills, it doesn't address any substantial issues, and the two of them are recklessly inflaming tensions solely to get votes...how Christian.

If someone gets hurt as a result of this two guys rhetoric, I hope that they (the two of them) get nailed to the cross (unintended pun).
