George Floyd's 4-year-old niece was shot on New Year's Day as she slept in her bed, family members said. And the Houston Police Department has opened an internal probe into its "delayed response" to the shooting.
Several shots were fired into an apartment just before 3 a.m. on Saturday while four adults and two children were inside, police said in a statement Tuesday.
One of the children, identified by relatives as Arianna Delane, was struck in the torso, police said.
Family drove her to a hospital, where she underwent surgery, relatives said, adding that she is stable.

(10,085 posts)Sounds like it could be a retaliation by boys in blue????
completely different name
different city
at 3am
was a drive by, so no suspects on the scene (no immediate threat)
and she was immediately driven to the ER by the parents (injured already taken care of)
I can see why a police response was delayed in Houston (basically to file a police report). There was no delay (as I've read in the reports) in emergency response as the parents took immediate action and got the poor girl to the hospital. (ie, they didn't sit around waiting for 4 hours)
Read a lot about that kind of prioritization in Philly now :/ No threat, no injured that needs police attention - turns into a paperwork call.

(10,085 posts)It just seems curious that they would not respond for so long after shooting. It makes one very curious.
