Right now, it’s April. Mid-April. And it is not particularly hot in the state of Texas. Low 90s in Laredo, sure. It’s on the Mexican border. But the rest of the state? They’re in the 80s, even 70s. And yet, ERCOT, the Texas grid operator, is already worried about keeping the lights on.

The agency, formally the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, asked electricity suppliers not to schedule maintenance Tuesday for fear that temps in the 80s would strain the grid.

What the complete fuck?

How's that decision to isolate the state power grid from the rest of the country (for fear of federal regulation) working out for Texas residents now?

though I worry about innocent people who didn't vote for this. The rest needs to experience the effects of their choices.

Browns Ferry Nuke Plant maxxed out at just over 4 gigawatts for the first time ever. That's three TVA GE Mk1 BWRs at full chat, and we're part of the grid. I can't imagine running out of power like Texas has.

Maybe it will help beat Cruz, if there's some outages this summer.
