The Loudoun County Commonwealth's Attorney has filed suit against Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe and the Secretary of the Commonwealth, Kelly Thomasson, seeking to get the names of some 200,000 convicted felons who had their voting rights restored in April.
Jim Plowman filed the suit today in Loudoun County Circuit Court, asking a judge to order the governor's office to conduct a good faith search of all public records within its possession, done by parties without any conflict of interest in the search ...
The county's top prosecutor joins a growing group of commonwealth's attorneys who argue that McAuliffe's April 22 order to restore the voting rights for about 206,000 convicted felons could cause problems in jury selections.
Plowman's suit comes after several Freedom of Information Act requests to the governor's office the first on May 3 for the names of the restored voters were denied. .... Plowman reminded the governor's counsel that state law requires the production of records held in electronic media in any tangible form identified by the requester.
