Northam’s med school to hold news conference on its probe of yearbook photos
Richmond Times-Dispatch 1 hr ago

Eastern Virginia Medical School will hold a news conference at 2 p.m. today to discuss its probe into what it termed “unacceptable photos” in the student yearbook.

Gov. Ralph Northam’s page in the medical school’s 1984 yearbook included a photo of one man in blackface and another in a Ku Klux Klan robe. Northam, under cascading calls that he resign, initially apologized, saying he was one of the men in the photo, then backtracked Saturday, saying he was not in the photo.

The school has retained Richard Cullen, a senior partner at McGuireWoods, to lead a probe into the school’s past and present culture surrounding race.

Cullen is a former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia and a former attorney general of Virginia.
