Nearly 65,000 drivers overcharged for Seattle tunnel tolls
SEATTLE - Nearly 65,000 drivers who use the Seattle SR-99 tunnel are receiving refunds from the state Department of Transportation for fees that were charged in error.
Due to an intermittent technical issue with the tolling equipment in the tunnel, drivers' "Good To Go" accounts may have erroneously been charged a 25-cent photo-enforced fee on one or more trips.
To ensure that drivers with Good to Go passes are not being overcharged, the state is crediting their accounts for any 25-cent fee charged for travel in the Seattle tunnel from Nov. 9 through Dec. 31, 2019. The refunds are automatic, so drivers do not need to do anything.
The state DOT will begin to issue the refunds on Friday, but it could take up to seven days for the credits to appear in motorists' accounts.
