Property taxes rise for most of Snohomish County in 2020

EVERETT — Get ready, homeowners — property taxes are on the rise.

Bills in Snohomish County are rising by an average of 10.7% compared to last year, according to county figures released Tuesday. That means homeowners, on average, can expect to pay an extra $456.08.

In Marysville, it’ll be double that.

Homeowners in the city are to pay an average of 32% more in property taxes than they did last year — a $902.20 increase.

Where I live my 2,000 square foot ranch style home in Florida (Lake County) is 1900 property taxes a year BUT schools stink, very few government benefits for the poor, etc. so people in these higher property areas are better off.

So I don't have a lot of sympathy for them, in general. With the new tax laws, much of that is probably not exempt from federal taxation either-we don't have a state income tax here. Property prices have gone insane over the last couple of decades.

The western end of the county is largely urban/suburban, but going up Hwy 2 into the mountains is where the Trumplodytes are so legion.
