KIRO abruptly cancels popular afternoon radio show 'The Ron & Don Show'

After nearly 13 years on KIRO-FM, the afternoon drive time won't be the same without "The Ron & Don Show."

On Thursday, shortly after the show, KIRO announced that the show was over and Ron Upshaw and Don O'Neill would be leaving the station.

"We want to thank them both for their service and contribution to the station, our company and to the communities they serve," KIRO said in a post on the show's Facebook page. "They both left long legacies at KIRO Radio and we only wish them the best."

The news came as a shock to listeners, and reportedly to the staff as well. According to a Seattle Times report, a brief email was sent to staff announcing the end of the show and a meeting to name the new show in the afternoon slot.

Neither the two hosts nor the station's management have elaborated further publicly.

In place of "The Ron & Don Show," KIRO has announced they will launch "The Candy, Mike and Todd" show, featuring afternoon producer Candy Harper, former P-I journalist Mike Lewis, KTTH-AM and afternoon show host Todd Herman.

So they're being replaced by that RWNJ Todd Herman? It's bad enough they have Dori Monson who used to be more moderate some 20 years ago when he was with the now defunct KING AM. I don't know what's crawled up his ass since then.

These days the only time I tune into KIRO is for Seahawks pre and post game shows.
