Related: About this forumI want to thank riversedge for hanging out with me yesterday at Jackpine Radical's memorial.
It really meant a lot to have another DUer there, and I really enjoyed meeting you! I was glad to also meet Sybylla and MadAsHell, and sorry they had to leave early. But even a short time with other DUers face-to-face is a wonderful thing.
I want to especially thank you for your kindness and encouragement about me getting up to speak - I don't know if I could have done it without having your support.
It was a very moving event, and being able to share the experience with you made it all the more special.

(17,997 posts)I wish I had a car and could have been there. I'm glad some DUers were there.
I don't know how it could have been anything but a beautiful, moving service. I don't think I have ever seen such an outpouring of grief, emotion and so many tributes to anyone as Jim Peterson here on DU. He was unique and special man

(31,893 posts)Oh well. Yes, it was a wonderful memorial. I've been wanting to post about it in GD, but just haven't been able to pull all my thoughts together yet.
As for all the tributes on DU - Sybylla printed out that whole thread and gave it to his wife. When Carla was giving her eulogy, she brought that up and said that it was really wonderful to read how so many people loved and cared about Jim here on DU, and she thanked us all.

(17,997 posts)That's. I don't know what to say.
I'm in Chicago and I honestly didn't think about posting to ask if anyone here was going. Shoot. That would have been the smart thing to do.
I really appreciate that you have posted this. I know that many wished they could have gone.

(31,893 posts)Anyway, I know that lots of DUers wished they could have gone - and I did my best to speak for all of us when I got up to speak at the memorial.
(And I realize I really need to make that GD post I've been meaning to do...)

(8,544 posts)I knew it was going to be a great service and would have loved hearing what you and others had to say about Jim.
The way the wedding turned out, I regret not staying now for Jim's service instead.

(70,483 posts)You are welcome. You gave a grand little talk--moving-heartfelt-- and represented DU and yourself very well.
It was nice meeting you and others.--really I loved the setting--it was so so 'JIM"--out in nature.
Also--loved the chair that was reserved in the front with the Bernie Sanders shirt on it. What a great thing to do in his memory.
Glad to see you made it home--that was a very long trip for you but sure glad had opportunity to meet up with you.
In solidarity

(2,284 posts)Loved his posts on DU and also met him more than once at Democratic conventions. His intelligence made him a wonderful conversationalist. I'm so sorry I couldn't make his memorial but I am physically restricted at the moment.
