Gamers Should Be Worried About Windows 10 Automatic Updates
But there are already causes for concern. Chief among these is the way Microsoft has incorporated Windows 10 automatic updates and how these updates are conflicting with third party drivers.
As Forbes contributor Gordon Kelly reports, the problem revolves around a conflict between automatic updates and Nvidia graphics card updates using Nvidias Nvidia GeForce Experiencea handy tool for all Nvidia GPU owners. Basically Microsoft has taken control away from users, and made all updates mandatoryincluding driver updates. This is a decision meant to increase security and stability across the PC user base, but it comes at a cost.
Users are reporting problems with multi-monitor setups, dual-card configurations (SLI) and PCs not booting properly, setting off Windows 10 emergency recovery mode. More issues are likely to arise.

(1,005 posts)Updates go first to the Windows Insiders, and they can be counted on to give an earful of feedback, if the updates cause problems before getting generally released.

(1,005 posts)the Windows Insiders get the updates and new features before everyone else. They install them, test them and give Microsoft feedback on what worked and what didn't. That's about 5 million beta testers. I think that will catch any major showstopping issues before they get released to the general public.

(21,506 posts)Having said that a recent update in the test build did bork my network connection.
I didn't have much trouble fixing it but my customers likely would have had to call me.

(34,140 posts)I use a GeForce GT 640 with dual monitors for Photoshop (and a lot of other stuff). I need both monitors to be more efficient at scanning and editing pictures.
I've 'reserved' Windows 10 but I will delay installation until I get more info on how it works.
