(25,111 posts)This myth about HRC and lack of "white" men voters . . .
The last I saw she has a pretty strong standing for a WOMEN. LOL

(63 posts)In this post, the OP is drawing attention to the fact that he is not part of Hillary's demographic. According to the media, HRC "should" only pull supporters from the young, minorities, and women. The OP is pointing out by saying that he is a middle aged white man that he does not fit into any of these categories and yet he supports her.
Basically, putting his race out there is important in this context to make a point.
I agree that race needs to stop taking center stage (CONSTANTLY) but sometimes it is important to bring context to some situations.

(2,067 posts)I'm just taken aback by the # of DUers that introduce themselves by stating their race before anything else. While one's race certainly affects their life experiences, I think family background, education (or lack thereof), employment (or lack thereof), and political viewpoints tell you far more about someone than the lightness or darkness of their skin.
Stating your race as if it's the most important thing about you perpetuates deeply-ingrained stereotypes. For instance, the average individual who doesn't know who Michael Jordan is is probably going to have different images in their head if you start your description with "He's a black male from Chicago" instead of "He's an NBA athlete worth approximately $1b."

(2,067 posts)It plays a role, but if it was the most important factor in if/where you go to school, if/where you work, then there'd be no point in any of us minorities even trying.

(41,832 posts)I got two. One looks like yours and one says Hillary for America.
My car would get keyed here in knuckledrag Oklahoma.
Lots of nice people here in Tulsa, but there are just enough to make it sketchy.

(2,106 posts)Step 1: Buy sheet magnet.
Step 2: Attach the bumper sticker to the sheet. Cut to fit.
Step 3: Put the magnet on the car. Drive proudly.
Step 4: Once at your destination, store the magnet in the trunk until you're ready to leave again.
Be aware this will not stop the really scary ones who yell and throw stuff at your car when you're stopped at red lights.

(54,527 posts)I live in Germany, so the locals would just say "huh?"
Most DO know who Hillary is, though ("Frau Clinton" to you, please), which is saying something. Putting a "Bernie" sticker on a car here in Germany would only confuse people, as they would assume you are from the capital of Switzerland, and "O'Malley" would make them think you are promoting some pub downtown that serves Irish brands of Ale.

... BUT I will wait until she's the nominee, as I like BOTH Hillary and Bernie. But since I think the SCOTUS issue is of paramount importance, I want to be SURE we get a Democrat in the Oval Office.

Hillary is my choice, but if on the remote chance Bernie was the one, I would proudly back him.
