Related: About this forumBernie’s Moment Has Passed
http://bluenationreview.com/bernies-moment-has-passed/Theres a cruel immediacy to politics, where yesterday is a lifetime ago and all that seems to matter is todays news cycle. Thats the reality facing Bernie Sanders and his campaign.
I woke up today to CNN slamming Hillary Clinton for her money when shes facing billionaire Donald Trump in the general election. Twilight Zone stuff.
During the segment, a Bernie surrogate repeated the usual anti-Hillary talking points, accusing Hillary of corruption without an iota of evidence to back up that ugly character assault.
And it struck me: Bernies moment has passed.
The attacks on Hillarys transcripts. The incessant cable appearances by Tad Devine, Jeff Weaver and Jane Sanders. The endless trolling of Hillary supporters. The surrogates bashing Hillary with gleeful abandon.
Its fading quickly.
The money is drying up.
The energy is depleted:
A couple of weeks ago the Bernie phone bank targeted 50k calls a day. Has halved the goal & still underperforming
Politics is about the moment, and its daunting how quickly the past recedes.
Hillary knows that, which is why she keeps winning:
One of Hillarys greatest strengths is the one we hear least about: her visceral sense of the ebbs and flows of the news cycle. What seems like an earth-shattering issue today is a hazy memory tomorrow. What feels like a crushing defeat one night is forgotten the next. What seems like an insurmountable obstacle on the road ahead is quickly lost in the rear view mirror.
Bernie Sanders has brought lots of good ideas and energy to the 2016 race; he has helped spread our progressive ideals. But Hillary is now the one carrying the progressive message forward.
The race will run its course, but the Bernie moment is gone.
Finally........it sure has been a different election yr........

(22,172 posts)1. Cannot wait! I think the enthusiasm for Hillary is building and
Sanders is exposed for his tired and empty rhetoric. I've noticed less Sanders adoration on my Facebook feed.

The attempt to tarnish has not stopped, her values remain and she is very ready to serve.
