Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumDoes this statement strike you as a bit odd?
Or am I not seeing what was really meant?
Bernie said: Our campaign has held giant rallies all across this country, including in high-crime areas, and there have been zero reports of violence.
I posted this in a Burning Movement Love Fest thread and was ignored. I think this is really odd. It pokes at the possibility that Bernie doesn't quite grasp everything.
What say you?

Got me thinking though about any planned disruption in Philly. That city went for Hillary by about 67%. The demo favors her heavily. Not sure anything big would get off the ground there.

although I don't think it's a high crime area now.

(1,580 posts)It is odd. At first I thougjt it was meant to deflect responsibility. Like how some of his supporters are trying to say Hillary should take responsibility for that guy who punched that women.. But now it almost sounds like he is saying her supporters fired gunshots.

(1,771 posts)I'm an independent thinker. When I first read his entire statement this phrase jumped out and slapped me in the face.
I can't, and won't, speak for others.
Doesn't it strike you as odd that he would use a rally location that had no violence during the rally to explain that the reports of his supporters crossing the line just can't be true. I can come up with a least 10 funny analogies but I'm tired and my fingers aren't cooperating with my brain.
Have a nice evening

(4,791 posts)1- residents of 'high crime areas' are relatively more likely to be violent;
2- but when he held rallies in 'high crime areas', none of the attendees broke out into violence;
3- thus his followers in 'good' areas could never possibly be violent;
4- therefore nothing bad happened in NV
There are a lot of holes in his reasoning, if this is what it is, but it's the only interpretation that I could come up with that connects his remark to what happened in NV.

(3,179 posts)Of course he didn't see violence at his rallies since it is his supporters perpetrating the violence directed at anyone who doesn't cave to their demands.

(50,601 posts)It reads to me like the response you'd get from the parent of a bully who can't possibly believe her kid beat another kid into unconsciousness, even though her kid is standing there with blood all over his shirt and fifty eyewitnesses swearing he did it.
This looks like he's blaming Hillary's supporters for his team's actions. "Oh no. We've NEVER had any violence at MY rallies. Even when we went to New York City and Detroit we didn't have any violence. So there's no possible way MY supporters did it!"
I hope he saved a few of those $27 donations. We need to bill him for the labor involved in cleaning up the trail of shit he left behind him.
